A New Book on Moods and Collective Feelings

In his latest book, The Atmospheric “We”. Moods and Collective Feelings, Tonino Griffero investigates collective feelings from the atmospherological approach by him inaugurated. In particular, he examines the notion of “atmospheric competence” – both the intentional generation of atmospheres and the ability not to be manipulated by them – which also allows him to address the problem whether collective feelings are atmospheres or moods; then, he explores what kind of “we” grounds collective atmospheres referring both to the notion of “well being” and to oppressive atmospheres such as permanent emergency and the uncanny.
